Officers fingerprint the defendant, take photographs, run a background check, and enter all charges into the system. Personal property is catalogued and stored.
Booking typically takes one to eight hours depending on facility volume. At the end of the booking process, bail is set, either automatically by the Stanislaus County bail schedule for standard charges, or by a judge at a bail hearing for more complex cases.
